Weather Eye: Pesky low could intrude upon sunny, warm weekend

The all-important holiday weather forecast is waiting in the wings, so let’s bring it front and center from what I could see late Wednesday afternoon. We reached 70 degrees and will push into the 70s today as well. The trend for Friday is much cooler with highs in the low 60s if we are lucky. A below-average day temperature-wise.

Friday will see more clouds as a weather disturbance drops down from British Columbia. It has the potential to bring scattered showers west of the Cascades and here in Vancouver. The track of its movement will be critical for whether we get more scattered showers over the weekend.

Normally I would call for a mostly sunny and warm three days, but we will have to realize that as this pesky low spins around, showers could develop. I think the best chance for showers will be over the Cascades and east of the mountains. The least chance of showers will be along the Washington Coast.

Listen to the weather forecasts tonight if heading out Friday as things may have changed a bit. But overall, the holiday weekend will be drier than wet and between 70 and 80 degrees.

If you plan to camp in the Cascades, be aware that thunderstorms are a possibility over the holiday with sudden downpours.

What are you doing this holiday? Staying home here in town? A trip to the beach?

Enjoy your holiday, fire up the grill, smile at the sunshine and remember what Memorial Day is all about. I will check in with you on Sunday.
