Seton Catholic’s Ellie Saunders and Jerrica Pachl took the top two spots out of the 1A state high jump Thursday at Roos Field in Cheney. Saunders won the title by clearing 5 feet, 5 inches while Pachl cleared 5-3.

The 18 points from the two Cougars put Seton Catholic atop the team standings after Thursday’s three final events. The meet continues through Saturday at Eastern Washington University.

Other notable locals competing Thursday on the east side included Stevenson’s Sydney Cole, who placed eighth in the pole vault (9-0), and Lincoln Krog, who ran a blistering 10.99-second 100 to advance to Saturday’s finals.
