Heritage Future Business Leaders bring home 20 awards, one state champ

Orchards — The Heritage High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America was recognized several times at the Washington Future Business Leaders of America Leadership Conference in Bellevue. The chapter was selected as the Washington Chapter of the Month for April. It was also recognized for winning the Gold Seal Chapter Award and Silver Level in the Champion Chapter program. Bob Berrigan, the chapter’s adviser, was named 2019 Washington FBLA Outstanding Local Chapter Adviser. Thirteen members competed in numerous events and won 20 awards, which qualified them for the national competition in June. Victoria Thornton was the school’s lone state champion, taking home the top prize in Database Design & Application. Thornton, Jacob Czech and Keziah Nguyen also received recognition for their community service, each completing at least 50 hours of community service while serving as members of the club.
