Clark County — Three local students were in Olympia recently to participate in the second-ever Washington STEM Signing Day, which celebrated high school seniors from across the state who were making their commitments to technical schools, colleges and universities. Students signed their letters at the state capitol building during a ceremony attended by family members, election officials and leadership from Boeing. One student from each of the 49 legislative districts was selected to participate. Battle Ground High School’s Taylor Harpe, representing District 18, plans to study aeronautical engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona. Skyview High School student Grace Fulfer, representing District 17, plans to study mechanical engineering or Spanish at Baylor University or Western Washington University. Vancouver iTech Preparatory’s Yaneri Garcia-Hernandez, representing District 49, plans to study neuroscience at Washington State University.
