The Clark County Council voted Tuesday to begin holding its regular hearings in the evening.

After trying out the new schedule in March and April, the council voted to move its regular hearings to 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of the month. The change will officially go into effect May 17.

Previously, the council held most of its hearings Tuesday mornings and held an evening meeting the first Tuesday of every month. The council made the schedule change to facilitate more public involvement and to bring the county into better alignment with the home rule charter that was passed in 2014.

According to a news release, the council saw more public involvement during March and April when it tried out evening meetings.

Hearings will continue to be held in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., in Vancouver, according to the news release.

The council’s weekly meeting, known as council time, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Most council work sessions will continue to be scheduled Wednesday mornings, according to the news release.
