A 29-year-old Battle Ground man allegedly stabbed an acquaintance in the chest early Monday morning, according to a news release from the city of Battle Ground.

Officers arrested Gennadiy V. Kachankov, 29, on suspicion of first-degree assault, the news release says.

Police were dispatched at 1:07 a.m. to the 500 block of Northeast Parkway Avenue after receiving multiple 911 calls about a knife attack.

Kachankov was quickly apprehended and placed in custody for questioning, according to the city.

The victim, an unidentified 29-year-old man, was located in a nearby home with wounds to his chest and hands. Medics took the man to the hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

An initial investigation determined that the men know each other, according to the city.

Kachankov was booked into the Clark County Jail. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court.
