Weather Eye: Enjoy pleasant spring weather, get ready for heat this weekend

The weather forecast calls for sunny and warm temperatures until further notice. Can you believe that? We saw some marine air Saturday and again this morning but that will dwindle away the next day or two as high pressure builds to our northeast.

That will allow offshore winds, and beginning Wednesday, we probably get to 80 degrees and by Friday, in the 85 to 90-degree range.

After next weekend, we could see some showers but extended weather forecast charts still keep us mostly dry. Hopefully we get a little rain in May and don’t end up with a damp June.

Almost every year we have a pesky low-pressure system drop down over us and resides during the Rose Festival activities. We call that the Rose Festival Low. It hasn’t been that established the past few years so we’ll see what happens at the end of May.

We should be in the mid-60s for highs now and in the low 70s by the time June arrives. We will be well above average this week. The snow is melting at a quick rate in our mountains now, but did you see Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens Saturday? Still wearing a nice white cloak.

Having two or three weeks of dry weather in spring is quite unusual. In 2018 and 2015, we managed several weeks of dry weather about this time. The summers following were hot and dry. Are you ready for another hot, dry and maybe smoky summer? Great for growing the garden and outdoor activities until we receive wildfire smoke.

Enjoy the pleasant weather and get ready for some hotter weather later this week.
