East Vancouver — Shannon Boyd, training coordinator at Humane Society for Southwest Washington, organized a fundraising cello concert on April 27 at the society’s adoptions lobby. The event raised money for today’s Walk/Run for the Animals. Boyd played cello and recorder along with Annie Harkey-Power of the Vancouver Symphony and Aiden Goodman. “Every year, I do something unusual to raise money,” Boyd said in a release from the society. “One year, I shaved my head. And one year, I sat in a kennel all day waiting to raise enough money to be ‘released.’ This year, I chose something musical.” The concert was free, but organizers asked for $10 donations and raised $452 for the event.
