Six organizations will receive surplus C-Tran paratransit vehicles as part of a new grant program to help Clark County social service providers meet their transportation needs. The program, called VanGo, was announced in January, and applicants went through a competitive grant process before recipients were notified in March.
C-Tran will recognize the recipients and hand over the keys to 11 retired C-Vans that would have otherwise been decommissioned and sold at auction. The celebration is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at C-Tran’s administrative office, 2425 N.E. 65th Ave., Vancouver.
The organizations getting paratransit vehicles are Educational Opportunities for Children and Families, Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Hands of Favor, Angels of God and Vancouver Elite Outreach.
Cascadia Technical Academy has offered to maintain the vehicles through its diesel technology program.
