The Everett Silvertips and Spokane Chiefs will face each other in the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

Both teams confirmed their spots in the second round via Game 5 victories Saturday night.

The Chiefs downed the Portland Winterhawks 4-1 at Spokane Arena for their third consecutive victory in the series.

The Silvertips closed out their series with a 9-1 home win against the Tri-City Americans.

Portland’s Cody Glass scored the first goal of the game short handed and unassisted against Spokane four minutes into the game. But it was all Chiefs after that.

Luke Toporowski scored the next two goals for Spokane in the first period, and Riley Woods scored twice in the third period.

Portland did outshoot the Chiefs 39-35, but was 0 for 4 on the power play.
