A woman reported a man with a knife attempted to rob her Monday near Clark College.

The woman was walking between a child care center at the campus and her home a few blocks away to pick up a child around 4:30 p.m., Vancouver Police Sgt. McAvoy Shipp said. A man approached her demanding cigarettes and her cellphone, Shipp said.

When the woman refused, the man produced a knife, Shipp said. The woman walked away and threatened to call police before the man fled.

The suspect remains at large and was described by the woman as a thin white male in his 30s; 5 feet, 5 inches tall with short, blonde hair, Shipp said. He was reported to be wearing a black shirt and shorts with a brown, hooded jacket.
