SEATTLE — A nationwide flooring company has agreed to pay a fine of nearly $134,000 to settle federal allegations that it paid a bribe to help secure work at a naval submarine base in Washington.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle says Spectra Contract Flooring, which has an office in Tukwila, was a subcontractor on a seismic upgrade at Naval Base Kitsap in 2009. Prosecutors said Spectra performed work at the Gig Harbor home of the main contractor on the job, Brent Meisner, and billed the Navy for it.
Meisner convicted in May 2017 of filing false tax returns and was sentenced to 18 months. U.S. Bureau of Prisons records show he was released from custody last October.
Spectra did not admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement, which was announced Wednesday.
