Vancouver targets April 1 for all-digital permits

On April 1, the city of Vancouver’s Development Review Division will require all fire and grading permit applications be submitted to the city electronically.

Applications must be submitted with the city’s ePlans electronic plan review software. Fire and grading permit applications join a growing list of development review documents the city only accepts and processes electronically.

Electronic submittals reduce review times and customers can check the status of their submittals or review at any time, a release says.

Customers can visit www.cityofvancouver.us/ePlans to learn more.

The city is offering free ePlans training courses. For grading permits: 10 to 11 a.m. March 25; 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. March 27; and 9 to 10 a.m. March 28. For fire permits: 8 to 9 a.m. March 25; 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 26; 11 a.m. to noon March 28. Classes will be at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St., and will cover the basics of how to use the ePlans platform to submit applications, upload plans and documents, respond to correction notices and check the status of a submittal.

To reserve a spot, email Lisa Eruhow-Hagan at Lisa.Eruhow-Hagan@cityofvancouver.us with the date of the class you wish to attend and the number of people who will attend.

City staff is available to visit local companies to provide ePlans training to small groups by request.
