Prep highlights: Hudson’s Bay bats come alive in win

Four Hudson’s Bay baseball players — Alan Merrill, Jaxon Mills, Trent Palen and Carter Morse — combined for 12 hits and 12 RBIs for a 18-8 five-inning victory over Hockinson in Monday’s nonleague baseball game.

Merrill went 3 for 4 with two doubles, three runs scored and drove in four. Mills, Palen and Morse also had three hits each; Morse had two doubles and each Bay player had at least one hit.

Stars of the day

• Alex Orr, Washougal baseball, went 3 for 4 at the plate with a home run and five RBI.

• Brevan Bea, Washougal baseball, went 2 for 3 at bat with a home run and an RBI. Closed the final two outs without a hit on the mound.

• Mary Pipkin, Camas softball, pitched a four-hit shutout with two strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double in 16-0 win over Washougal.

• Mallory Neely, Camas softball, Hit a two-run home run in her lone at-bat in a 16-0 win over Washougal.

• Brianna Adams, Battle Ground softball, went 2 for 5, including a double and drive in two runs in a 9-7 win over Columbia River.

• Chloe Opdahl and Maddie Sheron, Columbia River girls tennis, won their No. 3 doubles match, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to help Chieftains beat Camas in total sets after 3-3 match tie.

• Kiara Coburn, Fort Vancouver girls golf, was medalist with a 45 at Orchard Hills in a three-way match against Washougal and Heritage.
