The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center with the highest rating of five stars for its 2018 overall hospital quality star ratings.

Of the more than 4,500 hospitals reported on CMS’s Hospital Compare website, only 293 hospitals achieved five stars, which puts Legacy Salmon Creek in the top 6 percent in the nation for quality, according to a Legacy press release.

For the distinction, CMS examines up to 57 quality measures in seven categories: mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging.

Legacy Salmon Creek met standards in all of those areas, and outperformed standards in safety of care, readmission and patient experience.

“This honor is the result of years of intense focus on quality and patient safety at our hospital,” said Bryce Helgerson, Legacy Salmon Creek President. “It is also a testament to the dedication of our clinical leaders, physicians, nurses, clinical staff members, those who work behind the scenes and every employee who comes into contact with a patient.”
