UPDATE: Crews have fixed the water main and restored water service to the buildings on Officers Row, according to Vancouver Public Works. The section of road is open.

A section of East Evergreen Boulevard that cuts through the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is closed after a water main break, according to the city of Vancouver.

The closure from Fort Vancouver Way to East Reserve Street was caused by construction activity, according to a Monday news release. City water utility crews are working to repair the break.

A private contractor for a U.S. National Parks Service construction project in the historic site bored through a 10-inch ductile iron city water main, according to the release. The break is east of the traffic circle at Evergreen Boulevard and Fort Vancouver Way and west of the Grant House on Officers Row.

By noon, 11 buildings on Officers Row were out of water service, including the Marshall House and Grant House. The contractor is removing equipment so crews can repair the line and restore service, according to the release.

Water service is expected to be restored later this afternoon or early evening, according to the release.

Emergency vehicles needing to access the area must come from East Reserve Street.
