A small fire Monday afternoon damaged a room in a central Vancouver home, just east of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The fire was reported about 1:10 p.m. Monday at 509 N.E. 92nd Ave., Vancouver, in the Forest Ridge neighborhood. When firefighters arrived minutes later, they immediately noticed smoke coming from the house and entered, Vancouver Fire spokeswoman Eva Scherer said.

Curtains caught fire in what appeared to be a child’s playroom, Scherer said. The blaze was contained inside the room and extinguished within two minutes, she said.

An adult and two children were inside the home but evacuated without injuries before firefighters responded, Scherer said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
