Felida — Teja Chunphakvenn-Pinkney, 17, served as a page in the state Senate during the week of Feb. 18, sponsored by Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver. The page program offers a hands-on opportunity for students to find out how state government works, including classes on topics such as budget writing and how a bill becomes a law, which culminates in pages creating their own bills in a mock committee setting. Chunphakvenn-Pinkney, an 11th-grader at Skyview High School, spent a few weeks over the summer in Spain with the Washington World Fellows Program, sponsored by Washington Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib.
