Washougal School District has decided to start classes two hours late Thursday and put several buses on snow routes.
No other Clark County school districts have opted to delay the school day, but Battle Ground, Camas and Hockinson all have buses on snow routes. Find information on the route changes here.
It snowed across the county yesterday, but there were no reports indicating any snow sticking on roadways. Big, wet snowflakes melted as they hit the streets.
The National Weather Service has not issued a short-term forecasts or weather statements regarding the “white rain,” as The Columbian’s Weather Eye dubbed the precipitation.
Vancouver’s forecast for Thursday says snow showers are likely before 10 a.m., and then rain and snow for about an hour after that. The skies should gradually clear up as the temperature reaches a high of 44 degrees.
As of 8 a.m., there was no snow falling outside the office here in downtown Vancouver.
There are more chances for a mixture of rain and snow in Vancouver through Friday night, although the it’s less likely than it has been so far this week.
The moderate weather means the freeways and highways are wet but otherwise in good condition. Traffic maps Thursday morning showed nearly all free flow traffic on interstates 5 and 205 going into Portland and on Highway 14.
