BATTLE GROUND — Battle Ground Public Schools’ Board of Directors is slated to appoint a new board member today.

The board will meet at 4 p.m. at the Lewisville Campus, 406 N.W. Fifth Ave., Battle Ground, to interview candidates to replace retired board member Ken Root. Root announced his resignation last month after eight years on the school board.

Board member Mavis Nickels, a retired teacher, also announced her resignation effective March 15. The board will also have to appoint a new member to fill her seat.

Both new board members will have to run for re-election in November.
