It’s snowing in the Vancouver metro area, but above-freezing temperatures have prevented anything from sticking to roadways.

The National Weather Service in Portland issued a short-term forecast Wednesday afternoon, stating that steady snow has been falling across Clark County. The listed communities include Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Washougal, Yacolt, and Amboy.

Temperatures are expected to rise through the afternoon, causing a likely transition to rain, according to the weather service.

“Light accumulations are possible into the early afternoon, primarily on vegetation and on hills above 500 feet,” the short-term forecast says.

Chances of rain and snow are forecast for Vancouver until Saturday.

“Rain and snow showers likely before 10 a.m., then rain showers,” according to the Thursday forecast. “Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.”

The likelihood of rain or snow in the metro area decreases for Friday and Saturday.
