A homeless man was stabbed in the back early Wednesday morning when he and his wife were attacked by three other homeless people at a homeless camp in Hazel Dell, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the camp located in a wooded area near the 10200 block of Highway 99 and learned that the couple had been attacked by three unknown people — possibly two males and one female — in what appeared to be a retaliation for a theft accusation, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man had been stabbed in his upper back, but the wound did not appear to be life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.

No suspects have been identified. They were believed to also be homeless, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy DuWayne Layton at duwayne.layton@clark.wa.gov.
