Big turnout for tennis gear giveaway

Vancouver Tennis Center saw a big turnout for its free tennis gear swap for the high school girls tennis season in Clark County.

It’s the fourth year in a row the VTC Foundation has put on the gear swap prior to the girls tennis season after seeing a need for equipment as turnout for teams continues to grow.

The three-hour event on Sunday drew 127 players representing nearly every high school in Clark County.

Players had their pick of racquets, bags, shoes and clothing all for free.

The need still exists for used racquets and donations can still be dropped off at VTC for distribution to area coaches and programs.

What isn’t given away this season is kept for future gear swaps.

The VTC Foundation is also planning a gear swap prior to the boys tennis season in the fall and donations for that are also being accepted.

For any questions about the gear swap program, call 360-624-3931 or stop by VTC at 5300 E. 18th St. in Vancouver.
