Ridgefield honors students, employees of month for May

Ridgefield — Ridgefield School District officials recognized the May Employee and Students of the Month at a recent board meeting. The Employee of the Month was Carla Bonebrake from Union Ridge Elementary School, where she started in 2005 as a classified substitute. She was hired as a permanent paraprofessional three years later, and currently works as a health room paraprofessional. South Ridge Elementary School fourth-grader Elsie Swenson earned Student of the Month honors for being a role model who is always willing to help her classmates. Yumiko Werner, a kindergarten student at Union Ridge Elementary, was honored for her upbeat attitude and helping to clean up the classroom and make sure everything is where it belongs. Sunset Ridge intermediate School fifth-grader Quentin Ross was named Student of the Month for his school because of his consistency representing the three r’s: respect, responsibility and resilience. Alexander Fry, a seventh grade student at View Ridge Middle School, was picked for his work in learning Spanish as his second language. Ridgefield High School sophomore Braxton Boer was honored for managing weekly physical therapy sessions and past surgeries with his school load, which includes knowledge bowl, robotics, advanced math and science classes and maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
