I always say that if you bust a forecast, at least land on the favorable side of things. The cool showers that were supposed to develop as of 5 p.m. Wednesday fizzled making their presence locally. That cold pool of air drifted southward all the way off the Southern Oregon Coast.
However, bands of showers and thunderstorms did rotate around and northward mainly along the Oregon and Southern Washington Cascades where we thought the worst would be anyway. Parts of the county had a few claps of thunder and sprinkles over the past two days but little else.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday the high for Vancouver easily reached 75 degrees with abundant sunshine. Just about average for the date. Did you see those towering cumulus clouds to the southeast and east Wednesday afternoon and evening? A severe thunderstorm was hitting Mount Hood along Highway 26 around 4 p.m.
For today, folks, I still expect to get some rainfall in the form of showers or thunderstorms. If it remains dry, well, then at least we tried. Anyone for a rain dance? Still an outside chance of an early shower Friday then quickly settling down over the weekend.
