It’s going to be an all-Clark County matchup for the 110th Oregon Amateur golf title on Saturday.
Recent U.S. Open participant Spencer Tibbits will face off against Daniel Snoey in the 36-hole final beginning at 8:15 a.m. at Portland Golf Club.
Top seed Tibbits, a Fort Vancouver grad who plays at Oregon State, won his semifinal on Friday 3 and 2 over No. 4 Dustin Laney of Portland.
No. 15 seed Snoey, a Camas High grad, beat No. 6 Sean Kato of Redmond, Ore., 2 and 1 in their semifinal.
Kato reached the semifinal by eliminating Jake O’Neal of Vancouver 4 and 2 earlier Friday. Tibbits rolled into his semifinal with a 7 and 6 win over Brent Mumford of Portland.
Tibbits was runner-up last year at Bend Golf Club.
Both Tibbits and Snoey are former Washington high school state champions. Tibbits won the 3A title in 2014, 2016 and 2017 (he was runner up in 2015), while Snoey won the 3A state title in 2009.
Both golfers have also been honored by The Columbian as All-Region boys golfers of the year during their prep careers.
Clark County has had a big presence at the Oregon Amateur in recent years. Camas grad and Boise State golfer Brian Humphries was runner-up in 2017 and 2016, and Union grad Alistair Docherty won in 2015.
In the women’s tournament, No. 5 seed Haley Greb of Pendleton beat No. 4 seed Amanda Elich of Camas in the quarterfinals 4 and 3.
