Charles Chandler had the freedom and right to say what he did in his assembly speech at Heritage High School, as guaranteed by Article 1 of the Bill of Rights. What he did not have, nor is there a guarantee for, is the right to freedom from the consequences of that free speech.
This simple reality is missing from (or ignored by) far too many in today’s society. Yes, it is guaranteed that you can express whatever thought, ideal, opinion, belief and view you have on anything, but you need to be prepared to accept the consequences. Tit for tat, quid pro quo, up and down, cause and effect, action equals opposite reaction; there will always be a consequence.
