WASHOUGAL — A STEAM Night on April 24 at Gause Elementary School gave students in kindergarten through fifth grade the opportunity to showcase their skills in science, technology, engineering, art and math.
An optional activity, students submitted 48 projects. Activities included a demonstration by the Steel Heart Robotics Club for technology, a family engineering challenge, and an art display and math games.
The Washougal High School Science Olympic Team also shared their projects. Students who competed in the event went before a panel of educators and district staff judges during the school day to describe their project and what they learned. Science fair winners included first place, Jack Dryden, fifth grade; second place, Derek Ager, fourth grade; and third place was Brianna Hausinger, fourth grade.
“It is so amazing to see the learning that takes place with these projects. I am so proud of the kids,” event organizer Rona Ager said in a news release.
