A Lane County, Ore., woman claims she was the top salesperson in the state before she was fired by her employer, Adair Homes, after complaining about the construction flaws in the home Adair built for her, The Register-Guard of Eugene reported.
Now the woman is suing Adair for $877,129, alleging whistleblower discrimination. The lawsuit was filed this week in Lane County Circuit Court. A jury trial is requested.
Elizabeth Grant worked for Adair Homes in Creswell from September 2011 until June 2018 — when, she said, she blew the whistle on illegal conduct including unlawful construction practices and violations of child labor laws, the lawsuit states.
Adair Homes, which has its corporate headquarters in Vancouver, builds affordable homes in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Arizona, according to their website. A message from The Register-Guard to Adair was not immediately returned.
