WASHOUGAL — Camas and Washougal community members are being asked to help local families this summer through an IMPACT CW event organized by St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Washougal. The church is looking for people to drive up and drop off food donations, or stop in to help fill boxes.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Parker’s Landing Historic Park at the Port of Camas-Washougal, 24 S. A St., Washougal.

Volunteers will be treated to a free barbecue lunch and concert by the Camas-Washougal Community Orchestra at noon.

“We are targeting families in the schools who receive free breakfast and free lunches and are a part of the backpack programs,” said Beth Raetz, IMPACT CW committee member and office secretary at the church. “When school stops for summer those meals end. These kids may get into a summer meal program, but there could be several weeks before they start. These meals will help to bridge that gap.”

Nonperishable food donations can be dropped off before the event between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 716 Washougal River Road, Washougal. Financial contributions can be made through www.gofundme.com/impact-camaswashougal-2019 or checks can be made out to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Volunteers can email stmatthewlcms@comcast.net to receive an invitation to sign up. For more information, call 360-835-5533.
