A newly commissioned liquid bulk carrier ship, the Menuett, docked Sunday at the Port of Vancouver as part of its maiden voyage. The ship departed June 27 from Onishi, Japan, and representatives from Norton Lilly and the Columbia River Steamship Operators’ Association were on hand to welcome it to Vancouver.

The Menuett was built by Kitanihon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd and is owned and operated by Mol Chemical Tankers PTE LTD. The cargo ship is the 10th in a series of vessels with music-related names. One of its sister ships, the Intermezzo, finished its maiden voyage July 10 at the Port of Vancouver.

The Menuett is commanded by Capt. M.M.I. Chowdhury and operated by a 33-member crew from Bangladesh and Myanmar. The ship is scheduled to off-load 15,000 metric tons of sodium hydroxide at the Port of Vancouver before continuing to Los Angeles.
