At this time in 2009, we were in the midst of 100-degree weather with a high of 107 degrees on July 28 in Vancouver. I remember one night it was still 80 degrees outside at midnight. Thank goodness we have had none of that — and hopefully we won’t — this summer.
That pesky jet steam to our north that has been hanging around all summer dipped just far enough Friday night and early Saturday for a few sprinkles, drizzle or light shower, depending on your location.
Forecast models had kept the front rather weak and on the dry side, proving there is never a dull moment in the weather business. Some light showers moved through the coastal beaches Friday night, but Saturday was clear, sunny and warm. The coast has had a good streak of 70-plus degree weather as of late.
The first day of August is Thursday, and most families are in the back-to-school preparation mode already.
