County to hold special filing period for offices

Clark County Elections will open a special three-day filing period for two elected offices that drew no candidates.

According to a county news release, at the close of the regular candidate filing period in May, no candidates filed to run for two elected offices: Town of Yacolt, council position Number 2 and Washougal School District director, District 1.

Under state law, Clark County Elections is required to hold open another filing period for these offices.

According to the news release, the Clark County Auditor’s Office has scheduled the special filing period to begin on 8 a.m. Aug. 7. It will end Aug. 9. Anyone meeting the qualifications of the office and wishing to file can do so at the Clark County Elections Office, at 1408 Franklin St. in Vancouver.

Candidates also may file online at clarkvotes.org. Online filing hours are 9 a.m. Aug. 7 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9.
