BATTLE GROUND –Fourth-graders from Battle Ground Public Schools had the opportunity to learn about the workforce at the districts first-ever Career Exploration Fair in June. The fair featured 19 stations led by students and teachers in the Career and Technical Education department, as well as local businesses and agencies. Eight hundred students from throughout the district’s seven primary schools arrived on buses throughout the day to participate in and observe activities, such as welding, sewing, video editing, pipe assembly and examining a car engine. “I loved seeing my students so engaged and participating in new activities,” Pleasant Valley Primary teacher Marina Heinz said in a news release. “We hope that by providing opportunities for students to learn about careers, they will see that they can become something in the future and that what they learn in school today will apply to what they decide to do,” Sandy Mathewson, Battle Ground’s director of Social-Emotional Learning said in the release.
