The Clark County Council is seeking to fill a vacancy on a three-member board that oversees Diking District No. 14.

According to a county news release, the district is bounded by the Columbia River to the west, Lake River to the north, the western shore of Vancouver Lake to the east, and the vicinity of the intersection of Northwest Old Lower River Road and state Highway 501 to the south.

Applicants must be property owners within the diking district and registered voters in Washington. Alternatively, they can be a designee of a private corporation that owns land in the district, the news release states.

Diking district commissioners have the authority to conduct business as needed to maintain and operate dike systems, purchase property, enter into contracts and exercise powers set forth in state law, according to the news release.

Members of the board serve six-year terms. The appointee will serve until a person is elected at the next special district election on Feb. 4.

Those interested should submit a brief letter of interest and resume to Alyssa Weyhrauch, County Manager’s Office, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666. Materials can also be emailed to alyssa.weyhrauch@clark.wa.gov.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Aug. 12.
