Clark College Foundation CEO Lisa Gibert was appointed to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s national committee for Institutionally Related Foundations. In the role, Gibert will provide leadership and guidance for foundations that partner with education institutions across the United States. She’ll keep other CASE members up to date on development of programs and services related to the foundation, as well as other duties. In 2018, Gibert was recognized with a National Commonfund Award for Leadership in Institutionally Related Foundations, one of the industry’s most prestigious awards. The position with CASE is a three-year term and she will serve along with 18 other committee members. The first meeting takes place in Chicago in September.

The American Association of Port Authorities recognized the Port of Vancouver USA with two Communications Competition Awards for its work in video production and community awareness. The awards include an Award of Distinction for the port’s public tours program and an Award of Merit for a video highlighting the port’s efforts to protect the environment called “The Innovators.” “Our public tours are a chance for members of the community to see firsthand all of the economic activity generated here on port property,” CEO Julianna Marler said in a news release. “And, our video features just a snapshot of the innovative work our environmental team does every day to protect the environment, something we are truly committed to here at the Port of Vancouver.” Find out more at www.aapa-ports.org.

Scott Weber, a Clark County clerk, was awarded the Clerk of the Year Award in June at the Washington State Association of County Clerks‘ annual conference in Spokane. Weber was nominated primarily for the “countless hours he has spent as the (Washington State Association of County Clerks) treasurer for the last seven years,” according to a news release. The award is presented to a member by the association for “significant contributions to improve the service of the association through representation, service, training and willingness to assist ‘beyond the call of duty.’ ”

Jaimie Garver was selected to serve on the executive committee for the nonprofit no-kill shelter Furry Friends of Southwest Washington. Garver has helped with grant writing at the organization and at events such as the Recycled Arts Festival. She’s the chief executive officer at Portland Local 8 Federal Credit Union. The law firm Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP was ranked among the Top 25 Best Law Firms for Minority Attorneys by legal news service Law360, in the category of similar-sized law firms that employ between 150 to 299 lawyers. The firm has four locations: Long Beach, Calif.; Portland; Seattle; and 500 Broadway St., Suite 400, in Vancouver. The ranking applies to all four locations. This is the second year that the firm, which has a Diversity and Inclusion Committee, has appeared on the list. “We are proud to be recognized by Law360 for our efforts in supporting the hiring, retention, growth, and advancement of minority attorneys in our firm,” co-chair of the diversity committee James Walker said in a news release. “Diversity is essential to effectively addressing our clients’ needs, strengthening our bonds with the communities where we practice, and cultivating a fair justice system.” It’s also the fourth year that it was ranked in the top five for Best Law Firms for Female Partners.
