Winners from Amboy Territorial Days announced

Amboy — Hundreds of visitors came out to rural Amboy for the town’s annual Territorial Days. The celebration has been going on for more than 50 years, with men, women and children taking part in contests that originated in the forests of America. Ben Clark took home the prize for Men’s All-Around, and Martha Nicholas won the Women’s All-Around award. Clark also finished first in the logroll, obstacle choker set over water, obstacle pole over water and high climb. Other honorees included: Greg Brown and Jeri Martinez for the men’s and women’s ax throw, respectively, Mike Nicholas and Mike Truong for the double buck, Mike Nicholas and Martha Nicholas for Jack and Jill, Martha Nicholas and Melani Keel for Jill and Jill, Brown for the chain race, Zach Brown and Beverly Frick in the men’s and women’s choker sets, respectively, and Aaron Brown finished first in the modified saw. In the youth categories, Travin Harris finished first in the ax throw for 6- to 9-year-olds, Russell Brown finished first in the ax throw for 10- to 13-year-olds, and Brett Joner finished first in the ax throw for 14- to 17-year-olds. Jaelyn Anderson, Russell Brown and Cassandra Goble won the choker sets in their respective age groups. Ethan Joner finished first in the high climb in his age group.
