The Vancouver-based M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust on Wednesday released its spring grants report that details its $16.2 million in recent charitable giving.

Twenty grants totaling $5.7 million were distributed in Washington, including $131,000 for the local Giving Closet. The nonprofit, which operates a free community store in central Vancouver for people in need, will use the funds to establish a development department.

Young Life, a Colorado-based youth ministry with Clark County affiliates, received $2.55 million for facility construction and renovation at Washington Family Ranch in Antelope, Ore., where Young Life holds summer camps. The group received an additional $60,000 for its Denny Rydberg President’s Leadership Fund.

In June, Murdock announced it had passed $1 billion in charitable giving since launching in 1975.
