WEST VANCOUVER — The national nonprofit organization Neighborhoods USA recognized the city of Vancouver’s Traffic Calming Program with a Best Neighborhood Program Award. The city received the award during a ceremony at the 44th annual NUSA Conference in May. It also tied for second place in the Social Revitalization/Neighborliness category. Vancouver’s Traffic Calming Program explores ways to help residents address concerns and raise awareness about traffic speeds and volumes. This year, the program will allocate $270,000 to traffic calming projects. “Through the years, this program has continued to evolve and improve, reflecting the needs of the community,” Jennifer Campos, principal planner with the Community and Economic Development department, said in a news release.
