NORTH SALMON CREEK — Skyview High School teacher Tori Sharpe was named grade 9-12 Educator of the Year by OnPoint Community Credit Union. The Portland-based credit union’s Prize for Excellence in Education program highlights teachers in both Oregon and Southwest Washington each year. The prize for the top two Educators of the Year includes a $2,500 donation to the school for resources and supplies and mortgage paid for a year. Sharpe is an English, AVID and English Language Learner (also known as ELL) teacher. She has helped expand the school’s English Language Development classes and developed ELL techniques. Sharpe also is the girls wrestling coach and helped implement family engagement nights. Outside of school, Sharpe facilitates volunteer opportunities at the Vancouver Bike Parade and Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland.
