PeaceHealth has laid off approximately 50 employees from its Technology Solutions Partners division. In a statement Friday, the health care company said the layoffs resulted from a decision to centralize some of its tech support services to a shared services center in Vancouver.

“This decision was reached after considerable thought and careful assessment,” the company said in a written statement. “We greatly appreciate the hard work and dedication by our caregivers. Impacted caregivers will have the opportunity to apply for open positions within our organization. In line with our values, we will offer comprehensive transitional support.”

According to two anonymous tipsters who contacted The Columbian, many of the employees who were laid off worked at PeaceHealth’s main administrative building in the Columbia Tech Center. A PeaceHealth spokesman, Jeremy Rush, said he could not share details about where the layoffs took place, but that they were “across multiple PeaceHealth locations.”

The majority of the layoffs took place Thursday morning, the tipsters said, and the employees were given no advance warning that layoffs were coming. They said there had been some turnover at the management level in prior weeks amidst a reorganization of parts of the technology department.
