PORTLAND — Target has proposed to open a store in the location of the shuttered Orchard Supply Hardware in Northeast Portland’s Hollywood neighborhood, according to city permitting records.
The Minneapolis big-box retail giant filed the proposal with city officials on Friday.
The building Target has set its sights on, at 4030 N.E. Halsey St., operated for more than 50 years as a bowling alley — first Timber Lanes and later Hollywood Bowl — before the building was sold and renovated for use as a retail store.
Orchard Supply Hardware opened in 2014, but the chain abruptly announced its closure last year.
If Target’s plans move ahead, the store would be its second in Portland to be housed in a former bowling alley. Target opened a small-format store at the former AMF Pro 300 Lanes on Southeast Powell Boulevard last year.
