The Ridgefield Raptors opened the second half of the West Coast League season with a tense road win, holding off the North Division first-half champion’s late rally.
KEY MOMENTS: Jonny Weaver broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run homer in the top of the seventh. That came one inning after reliever Cameron Repetti escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam without allowing a run.
KEY PLAYERS: Marc Lidd earned his first save of the season, but it wasn’t easy. Victoria opened the ninth with a single, an RBI double and an RBI single, pulling within 4-3 with nobody out. But Lidd ended the threat with a flyout and two strikeouts. Michael Yourg went 3 for 4 in the No. 8 spot in Ridgefield’s lineup.
NEXT GAME: Ridgefield (14-14, 1-0) at Victoria (18-10, 0-1), 6:35 p.m. today. (Radio: FM 99.9)
