Central Vancouver — The League of Women Voters of Clark County won state recognition for its membership growth, outpacing all 19 other local chapters in Washington in percentage increase for the last two years. The Clark County unit grew by 133 percent, from 30 to 70 members, between January 2017 and January this year, according to Ann Murphy, president of the League of Women Voters of Washington. The next fastest-growing chapter was in the Spokane area, which increased from 36 members to 98, good enough for 75 percent, over that same time period. The Clark County chapter has instituted a number of new efforts and activities, as well as continued several programs, to drum up interest, including training election observers, sponsoring candidate forums and conducting civics education workshops.
