Drivers on state Highway 14 between Southeast 164th Avenue in east Vancouver and Northwest Sixth Avenue in Camas should be prepared for overnight delays next week.

Beginning Monday, work begins to repair and pave this 3.5-mile stretch of highway.

During construction, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will smooth ruts, seal cracks, pave and stripe the highway, and replace guardrail throughout the work zone.

Drivers should expect nighttime single- and double-lane closures, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph through the work zone during construction hours.

Drivers also should expect intermittent on- and off-ramp closures and plan to use alternate routes when a ramp is closed. Ramp closures are possible, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., at three locations:

• Eastbound on-ramp from Northeast 164th Avenue to Highway 14.

• Westbound off-ramp from Highway 14 to 164th Avenue.

• Eastbound and westbound on- and off-ramps at Northeast 192nd Avenue and Highway 14.

Construction on this $2.86 million project is weather dependent and scheduled to wrap up in August.

Traffic impacts for the remainder of the construction have not yet been determined.
