Clark County Public Health has lifted health advisories at Lacamas and Round lakes in Camas. Blue-green algae, or blooms of cyanobacteria, that were present at the lakes dissipated over the weekend and are no longer present, according to a Public Health news release.
Algae blooms might return if conditions change, especially if warmer temperatures return. Public Health advises swimmers to watch out for floating blue-green scum and avoid direct contact with it.
Blue-green algae blooms are still present at Vancouver Lake’s Burnt Bridge Creek inlet and the flushing channel near the swim beach, according to Public Health. A warning remains at Vancouver Lake, which tested positive for elevated levels of cyanotoxins last week.
Cyanotoxins can be harmful to people and deadly to small pets that drink the water. Public Health collected water samples for testing on Monday and results might be available by Wednesday, according to the news release. If toxins are no longer present, according to testing, then Vancouver Lake may have its warning downgraded by Public Health.
