We finally warmed into the 50s with the sunny skies Monday. That after a miserable three days of persistent inversion with highs barely cracking the 40-degree mark. Above 1,200 feet or so it was sunny all weekend.
I’ll mark that up to experience as I thought we would have at least some sunshine. Gads, I have to tell myself forecasting weather is certainly not an exact science at times. It looks dry through the last couple days of the month. So far Vancouver has received 2.83 inches of rainfall and if nothing hits the rain bucket by midnight Thursday, we will end up nearly 3 inches below average for the month.
The inversion caused warm temperatures up in the Cascades too, with highs in the 50s and some locations into the 60s. Lots of snow compaction and melting flowing off the mountains. The good news is the big change in the weather pattern. Read on.
By Friday a cold trough of low pressure drops down from the Gulf of Alaska and lowers snow levels well below the passes. Maybe down to the upper foothills to our east. The ski areas will pick up a good shot of fresh powder, so this is great news.
