Jace Chatman hit two 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions late in the fourth quarter to give the Skyview Storm the lead for good.

Trailing 52-46 on its second-to-final possession, Battle Ground senior Vincent McCormic (11 points) hit a deep 3-pointer that pulled the Tigers within 52-49. The Tigers had a potential game-tying shot to end the game by Lukas Karlsson, but was off the mark.

Alex Schumacher led all scorers with 15 for Skyview and Kyle Gruhler added 11. Chatman finished with 10.

KeAndre Hunter-Holliday shared team-high honors with McCormic with 11 points. Sophomore center Kaden Perry spent most of the first half in foul trouble, picking up two fouls the first 90 seconds. He finished with nine points.

Despite two narrow defeats to 4A RPI teams — undefeated Union and Skyview — Tigers coach Manny Melo still strongly believes the best is yet to come with his team.

“We still control our own destiny,” Melo said. The kids have been challenged all year … we’re wiating to pop that one, big game. We’re right there.”
