A woman was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars worth of liquor from Fred Meyer and wielding a knife at an employee.

Police were called to the store at 11325 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. shortly before 4 p.m. A woman tried to walk out with $370 worth of liquor and, when confronted by an employee, brandished a 3-inch pocketknife, Vancouver Police Sgt. David Krebs said.

When the employee backed away, Quira Willis-Marsh, 24, fled on foot to the Sprint store across the street in Cascade Park Plaza, Krebs said. Witnesses reported that a white sedan may have been waiting for Willis-Marsh but drove off as she was confronted.

Willis-Marsh then entered the Sprint store and pretended to shop for a phone, Krebs said. Police arrived, he said, and she ditched the liquor and knife and fled on foot again before giving up. About five minutes after police were called, Willis-Marsh was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
