Union captures 4A GSHL wrestling title

Union defeated Camas 35-25 in a dual meet Wednesday to capture the 4A Greater St. Helens League wrestling title.

It’s the seventh league title in the past eight years for the Titans after Camas won last year.

Union won eight of 14 matches. Elijah Cassidy (113 pounds) and Josh Barber (285) earned pins while Danny Snediker (182) earned a technical fall.

Camas got pins from Tanner Craig (138) and Jack Latimer (132).

Camas junior Gideon Malychewski won one of the night’s most competitive matches, beating Kyle Brosius 7-3 at 195 pounds. Malychewski is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A statewide at 170 pounds while Brosius is ranked No. 5.
